WHAT IS COUNTERFEIT AND WHY IS IT WRONG?
A counterfeit product is any imitation or fake made with the intent to deceive the consumer into believing it to be genuine. Counterfeit UGG boots online are often advertised as "cheap uggs", "discount uggs", "uggs on sale" and on websites calling themselves "ugg outlets" or "ugg shops". Often they may have ‘ugg’ in their domain name or advertise themselves as an "official ugg store".
Our goal is to help our customers to be aware of counterfeit products that are being sold to unsuspecting buyers as genuine UGG Products.
Counterfeiting is illegal. It has a significant impact on the global economy, removing tens of thousands of jobs and costing the economy an estimated $600 billion of legitimate revenue a year. The International Trade Commission concluded that U.S companies have lost close to 1 million jobs domestically due to Chinese counterfeits.
Beware UGG Boots for Sale or Discounted, Cheap UGG Boots Advertised Elsewhere.
Counterfeiting is not a victimless crime. Consumers who believe they are purchasing genuine items are left with inferior items that cannot live up to their expectations. Counterfeiters hurt legitimate business owners as well as the overall economy because they do not pay taxes nor do they provide fair wages or benefits to their employees. They frequently use child labor, participate in identity theft, fail to deliver goods that were paid for and have been connected to gang activity and terrorism, among other crimes. When you purchase a counterfeit product, you are funding and supporting this criminal activity.
Counterfeiters are not accountable to human rights and environmental regulations. Counterfeiters don’t adhere to child labor laws, anti-sweatshop laws, or restricted substances laws, putting both workers and the environment at risk. Fundamental human rights of workers employed by counterfeiters, such as basic safety and health precautions, are often compromised or entirely ignored creating a work environment that is safe for no one.
COUNTERFEIT CHARACTERISTICS
To ensure you purchase only genuine UGG Australia products, please remember that they can only be purchased at:
- UGG Australia Concept stores and our official website
- Authorized UGG Australia retailers
- Authorized online UGG Australia retailers
Be cautious of purchasing what are advertised as UGG products on eBay, and other auction websites, including Tao Bao and Craig’s List. Authorized UGG Australia retailers are not permitted to sell products on eBay trade boards, therefore the UGG products on auction sites are often counterfeit. However, many counterfeiters are now charging full retail price to avoid detection from consumers.
Look for the new UGG Australia reflective security sticker and/or label on every UGG product you purchase. This reflective authentication sticker and/or label will be on every genuine UGG product beginning with Fall 2010.
Be wary of websites advertising UGG products (other than the Authorized Online Retailers mentioned above). Remember that these sites may use "ugg" in their domain, accept major credit cards and are able to obtain product images from the UGG Australia website to advertise their counterfeit merchandise, so that they appear legitimate.
UGG Australia genuine products are not offered through individuals (other than those noted above), street vendors, flea markets, unauthorized retail locations or at "purse parties".
Search engines (such as Google) do not pre-screen websites that appear in their search results. Be cautious of websites that appear on Google searches for "Ugg" or similar keywords or search terms – only the official UGG Australia website and it's authorized retailers’ websites are trusted online sources for purchasing genuine UGG products.

WHAT WE ARE DOING
We employ the latest security to help ensure authenticity. Every authentic UGG® Australia product beginning with the Fall 2010 season will come with two-layers of security contained in a reflective security label and/or security sticker, allowing you to instantly authenticate genuine UGG® products. PLEASE NOTE THE SECOND SECURITY FEATURE WILL BE ELIMINATED FOR SPRING 2012 PRODUCT WHICH IS CURRENTLY BEING SHIPPED TO SOME MARKETS.
Simply locate the reflective security sticker on the outside of your shoebox.
To view the first feature, turn the sticker 90º and make sure the sun logos change from black to white on the reflective strip. Second, look at the same sticker’s reflective strip, turn it at an acute angle and verify that the UGG® logo appears on the strip with some color reflecting. PLEASE NOTE THE SECOND SECURITY FEATURE WILL BE ELIMINATED FOR SPRING 2012 PRODUCT WHICH IS CURRENTLY BEING SHIPPED TO SOME MARKETS.
If both security features perform as described, then you have an authentic UGG Australia product.
If your product has a sewn in material content label it will also have a security label sewn in behind the label on the left boot or shoe and will work in the same manner as the sticker (note: if there is no sewn in label, a security sticker will be on the outsole of the left shoe).
These security features have been added to UGG Handbags beginning with the Fall 2011 season.
We are dedicated to fighting this problem. UGG Australia works with worldwide Customs authorities and various law enforcement agencies to spot and stop the shipment of counterfeit goods, preventing their sale and distribution. UGG Australia also actively works to takedown any counterfeit websites, sponsored links, online auctions, and trade board listings. We work with our various partners to investigate and conduct raids of factories producing counterfeit goods intended to deceive consumers. UGG Australia is working with the U.S. Congress to draft effective laws to address the proliferation of illegal counterfeit websites.
